Schools & Districts · Grades 6–8

Real-world readiness
for middle schoolers
already on the road.

WheelWISE gives grades 6–8 students structured decision-making practice, sharper situational awareness, and authentic peer-leadership roles around e-bike and e-scooter use — without adding a new course or new staff.

The Problem

Your students are already on the road. Nobody taught them.

Middle schoolers are navigating bikes, e-bikes, and scooters in neighborhoods, on school routes, and alongside traffic — with no structured decision-making framework behind them.

Fewer than 5% of U.S. school districts have any formal response to this readiness gap.

Grades 6–8 aren't just at risk — they're the population getting hurt.

The Program

A structured, facilitator-led readiness system for middle school.

Built to align with SEL and Portrait-of-a-Graduate competencies, WheelWISE weaves mobility safety into what you already teach — turning everyday rides into a structured lab for decision-making, empathy, and civic leadership.

12 sessions 4 safety domains Pre/post assessments Completion credential Facilitator-scripted
Domain 1
Defensive Riding
Hazard perception and scanning using real video scenarios. Students apply structured decision-making before they face these situations at speed.
Domain 2
Legal Basics
Traffic law, right-of-way, e-bike classifications, and what happens after a crash or citation as a minor. State laws surface automatically — facilitators don't research it.
Domain 3
Gear & Battery Safety
Helmet selection, fit, and social norming exercises. Battery safety: thermal runaway, charging protocols, and emergency response.
Domain 4
Street Smarts & Peer Pressure
The science of peer influence, real scenario analysis, and PSA creation — giving students language and practiced responses for high-stakes social moments.

Methodology

Built on the W.I.S.E. Learning Model
and Character Framework.

Every WheelWISE session follows a four-phase instructional cycle that moves students from observation to real-world action — alongside four character traits practiced in every lesson.

Learning Model
W
Watch
Students observe real-world mobility scenarios — video, data, and lived experience — to anchor learning in context.
I
Investigate
Students examine laws, injury data, gear science, and peer dynamics to understand the why behind safe decisions.
S
Share
Students synthesize learning through discussion, peer-teaching, and community messaging — building voice and accountability.
E
Empower
Students take ownership through Safety Ambassador roles, PSA creation, and visible proof of completed decision-making practice.
Character Framework
W
Wonder
Curiosity about how the world works — asking why before acting, and exploring consequences before they happen.
I
Integrity
Doing the right thing even when no one is watching — on the road, in the group, and in daily choices.
S
Service
Contributing to a safer community — treating Safety Ambassador status as a responsibility, not just a credential.
E
Empathy
Understanding how decisions affect others on the road, in school, and in the community — especially those most vulnerable.

Classroom Tools

Live data, not a binder.
